Sell access to your courses with Stripe: plans, checkout and automatic access

Create access plans (one-time or monthly/yearly subscriptions), let families pay by card on your Plans page and give students access automatically. Refunds, invoices and a CSV export included.

In this guide

  • What you need before you start.
  • Create access plans: price, one-time or subscription, free trial and what they unlock.
  • How students pay and get access automatically.
  • Track payments, issue refunds and export a CSV.

Before you start

Online payments go through your academy's own Stripe account, connected in My academy → Payments (see Get paid with Stripe). Students pay you directly: the charge is created on your Stripe account, and the money goes to your bank. When the platform has a commission configured it's shown on the Payments page; by default there is none.

Your Stripe account must show Connected · can charge. If it says Action required, click Continue Stripe onboarding and finish what Stripe asks. With an Express account, Open my Stripe dashboard takes you to your payouts and balance.

No student limit

Acatudy plans don't limit how many students you have, so a payment is never blocked for lack of seats.

1. Create an access plan

  1. Open Access plans

    Go to My academy → Payments → Access plans and click New plan.

  2. Set the price

    Give the plan a name (for example Grade 10 · full course), a price and the currency. The currency defaults to your country's (USD in the United States, EUR in Spain). Choose One-time payment or Subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Subscriptions can include a free trial of a number of days.

    A one-time payment can give lifetime access or access until a date, for example until the official exam: in Access duration choose Until a date, pick the date and, if you like, a reason (June exam). Students see how long their access lasts before paying and in their profile; it ends automatically at the end of that day, and after that date the plan can no longer be bought.

  3. Choose what it unlocks

    A full course enrolls the student in that course (for example Grade 10) with all its subjects. Specific subjects unlocks only the subjects you tick, which works well for single-subject tutoring.

  4. Payment options

    Accept coupons and promo codes lets students redeem the codes you created in Coupons and promotions (plans that include promotions). Calculate taxes automatically (Stripe Tax) adds sales tax or VAT at checkout; turn it on only after setting up Stripe Tax and your tax registrations in Stripe. Prices are then tax-exclusive.

When you save, the plan is published as a product in your Stripe account and its status shows On sale. If your Stripe account isn't active yet, the plan is saved as Not yet published on Stripe; once your account is active, click Publish on Stripe.

Editing the price, currency or billing period creates a new price on Stripe; students who already subscribed keep their price. Archive stops selling a plan without touching the access of students who bought it.

2. How students pay

Students see your active plans in two places:

  • Your academy's Plans page at /plans on your academy address. Link it from your website, for example from the buttons of your pricing page. Visitors without an account are asked to Create an account to continue.
  • The access screen that students see while they don't have access yet.

Clicking Pay and get access opens Stripe's secure checkout in your academy's language. As soon as the payment is confirmed, Acatudy automatically:

  • enrolls the student in the course or subjects of the plan;
  • marks the student as paid, so there's no need to use Mark as paid;
  • emails a confirmation in your academy's language.

With subscriptions, every renewal is recorded and emailed as a receipt. If a renewal fails, access is paused and the student is asked to update their card; when Stripe collects the payment, access comes back on its own. If the subscription is canceled, access ends. Students manage their card, invoices and cancellation from My payments → Manage subscription and invoices (Stripe's customer portal).

Manual enrollments are safe

When a payment ends, Acatudy only removes what that payment gave. A student you enrolled or marked as paid by hand keeps that access.

3. Payments, refunds and exports

My academy → Payments → Student payments lists every charge with student, plan, amount and status, a chart of what you collected each month (net of refunds) and a Purchases and subscriptions tab. Filter by status, plan, dates or student, and click Export CSV for your accounting.

To refund, click Refund on a payment, leave the amount empty for a full refund or type a partial amount, and tick the confirmation box. The refund is made on your Stripe account. Tick Also remove the student's access if the student should lose access.
