Backups: what your plan includes and how to restore your academy
Every plan is covered by a nightly backup of the whole platform. Professional and Institutional also keep daily backups of your academy that we can restore for you: the last 7 days or the last month.

Backups by plan
Every night Acatudy backs up the whole platform, so we can recover from an outage. On top of that, the Professional and Institutional plans keep restorable backups of your academy: we can put your academy back the way it was on a specific day.
| Plan | Platform backup | Restorable backups of your academy |
|---|---|---|
| Free and Basic | Yes, every night | Not included |
| Professional | Yes, every night | One a day, kept for 7 days (one per day of the week) |
| Institutional | Yes, every night | One a day, kept for 1 month (one per day of the month) |
Backups don't pile up: each new one replaces the backup from the same day of the previous week (Professional) or of the previous month (Institutional).
See your backups
Go to My academy → General → Backups. You'll see whether your plan includes backups, how long they're kept and the list of available backups with their date and size. On Free and Basic the page shows an Upgrade plan button instead.
What a backup includes
- Included: courses and subjects, questions, exams, assignments, grades, students and their progress, your website and your academy settings.
- Not included: uploaded videos and documents. They're stored in cloud storage, which keeps its own redundant copies.
Ask for a restore
-
Choose the backup
In My academy → General → Backups, select the date you want to go back to. Add a note if it helps, for example "I deleted the Math subject by mistake on Tuesday".
-
Click Request a restore
This opens a support ticket with the backup you chose. You'll find it in Help → Support.
-
We confirm and restore
The Acatudy team replies in the ticket before changing anything, then restores the backup and lets you know when it's done.
A restore replaces your current data
Your academy goes back to how it was on that date: anything created after it is replaced. Before restoring, we save a backup of the current state, so the restore can be undone.
What a restore doesn't change
Payments and invoices, student purchases, issued certificates, consent records, custom domains and support tickets stay as they are. Student and teacher accounts that still exist aren't changed.
Changing plans or closing your academy
- If you move from Institutional to Professional, the month of backups is deleted on the next nightly run and a new week of backups starts that same night.
- If you move to Basic or Free, no new backups are made and on the next nightly run we delete all of them except the most recent one. The page shows "You have a backup saved from…", but Request a restore stays disabled: to restore it you need a plan with backups again (Upgrade plan). If you move back to Professional or Institutional, everything works as usual.
- If your academy is deleted, its backups are deleted too.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download a backup?
No. Backups are restored by the Acatudy team. To take your data with you, use the exports in the panel (questions, gradebook, leads…).
Can I restore just one subject?
A restore covers the whole academy. Tell us in the ticket what you need and we'll suggest the best option.
