Getting started
5 guides
Create your academy, choose a plan and organize its structure.
- Create your academy: sign up, setup wizard, tax details and plan Go from zero to a working academy in about 15 minutes: pick your subdomain, run the 5-step setup wizard, add your tax details and choose the plan that fits your student count.
- How courses, subjects and units fit together Plan your catalog like a US school: courses (Grade 10, SAT Prep) contain subjects (Algebra II, Biology), and each subject is split into units with lessons, assignments and tests.
- Migrate from Moodle, Google Classroom, Canvas or Excel Bring your existing courses, students and question banks in minutes: export from your current platform, paste or upload the file, review the preview and import. Nothing is duplicated and nobody gets a made-up password.
- Import a Moodle course (.mbz): units, files, assignments and quizzes Upload a Moodle course backup and Acatudy rebuilds it: sections become units, files become resources, assignments and quizzes come over with their questions. Review everything before it’s saved.
- Visual or vertical mode: choose how students see your academy Visual mode shows a home page of cards, one per module. Vertical mode is a campus-style LMS: subjects with their units, activities and progress. How to switch, what changes for students and for your menu.
Subjects and content
4 guides
Subjects, units, videos, required reading and live classes.
- Add lessons, videos and required reading to a subject Upload PDFs, slides, links and videos to each unit, mark documents as required reading, build interactive videos with in-video questions and see who actually finished the material.
- Upload and compress videos: up to 20 GB, automatic compression and fast playback Upload lesson videos of up to 20 GB that resume if the connection drops. Acatudy compresses them in the background to save storage and optimizes them so they start instantly, while students keep watching.
- Live classes and 1:1 tutoring with Zoom, Google Meet or Teams Schedule live classes per subject with your own meeting link, repeat them every week, take attendance automatically, share the recording and let students book 1:1 tutoring slots.
- Document viewers: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and code inside your academy Students read PDFs, Office documents, code and notebooks right in the browser, with search, zoom and full screen. Which formats open in a viewer, which download, and how required reading works.
Questions and exams
8 guides
Question banks, open answers, CSV import and exams.
- Practice bank vs. exam bank: question types, including SAT-style grid-ins Build a practice bank for unlimited self-study and a separate exam bank for graded exams. Write multiple-choice and numeric “grid-in” questions that accept 3/4, 0.75 and .75 alike.
- Import questions from CSV or Excel (with grid-in answers) Move a whole question bank in minutes: download the template, fill one row per question (multiple choice or numeric), upload the CSV or XLSX and read the import report.
- Create timed exams: practice tests, trial exams and official exams Set up a full-length timed exam like a Saturday SAT practice test: choose the exam type, duration, attempts and wrong-answer penalty, schedule it, and let students review every answer.
- Written-answer questions (short and essay) and manual grading Ask students to explain their reasoning or write a short essay: add short-answer or essay questions to your exams, then score them from the Grading inbox with points, quick scores and feedback.
- Gradebook and grade weights: how the final grade is calculated Each subject gets a final grade out of 10: official exams 80% and assignments 20% by default, with practice tests not counting. Change the weights per subject, read the gradebook and export it to Excel.
- Generate questions with Quiddy (syllabi, laws and math) Turn a PDF, pasted text or a math topic into a reviewed question bank: literal multiple-choice questions with the supporting sentence in bold, or math problems checked by a second independent solution.
- Question challenges: when a student reports a wrong question Students can challenge a question they think is wrong. You get an email, review it under Courses → Challenges, fix or delete the question, and the student receives your reply by email.
- Practice tests vs. official exams: how tests work and their settings Students build their own practice tests from your question bank: untimed or timed, 10 to 50 questions, with a mistakes review. Only official exams count toward the grade. Set the question style, the wrong-answer penalty and the syllabus order for the whole academy.
Assignments and certificates
2 guides
Assignments with due dates, grading and certificates.
- Assignments: deadlines, submissions, grading and last-minute reminders Post homework with a due date, require students to watch or read material first, collect files or text answers, grade with a score or pass/fail, and let Acatudy remind anyone who hasn’t turned it in.
- Certificates: 10 designs, QR verification and a permanent record Award a PDF certificate when a student passes a final assignment, completes a subject or you issue it by hand. Choose from 10 classic and youthful designs in your brand colors; every certificate has a QR code anyone can verify, even years after your academy closes.
Students and teachers
4 guides
Enrollment, access, plan limits, roles and invitations.
- Add and manage students: access, courses and plan limits Enroll students one by one or let them sign up, place them in the right course, and turn access on when they pay. No plan limits the number of students.
- Invite teachers, set what they can do and let them enroll students Give each tutor access to just the subjects they teach: they manage units and exams, grade submissions, follow their students and can enroll new ones, without touching billing, settings or your website.
- Sign in with Google: one-click access for students and staff Admins sign in with Google using Acatudy. For students and teachers to continue with Google on your website, create your own Google Cloud credentials (all plans): the Google screen shows your academy name, logo and domain.
- A student can't see a subject or its content: checklist Go through these checks in order when a student says a subject, unit, assignment or exam is missing: access, publication, course, purchases, hidden units, dates, modules and plan.
Calendar and statistics
3 guides
Calendar, ranking and progress statistics.
- Use the academy calendar: classes, due dates and exam days One calendar for everyone: assignment due dates and scheduled exams appear automatically, and you add classes, parent meetings and key dates with your own colors.
- Ranking and statistics: track progress and motivate students Choose which statistics students see, set how the final grade is weighted, use the leaderboard to add friendly competition and spot who needs help with per-subject reports.
- Student messages: answer questions from the chat and by email Students write to your academy from the chat in their area; you get an email and reply from one inbox, with a filter for conversations still waiting for an answer. Your reply also reaches them by email.
Email marketing
2 guides
Scheduled sends, automations and consent.
- Email marketing and automations: announcements, drip emails and consent Schedule announcements to your students, send a welcome email automatically after sign-up and congratulate students who finish a subject. Only students with marketing consent receive them, always with an unsubscribe link.
- Forms and website leads: surveys, contact requests and newsletter sign-ups Build forms with a public link, email them to your students and export the responses to Excel. Add a contact form or newsletter signup to your website and manage every lead in one inbox, with marketing consent and CSV export.
Website, domain and SEO
7 guides
Website Builder, custom domain and Google Search Console.
- Design your student area: styles, logo, colors, home and menu Appearance brings together everything your students see: apply a preset style made for your type of academy, upload your logo, fine-tune colors and shape, choose the student area mode and set up the home page, menu and statistics, all with a live preview.
- Build and publish your website with the Website Builder Create your academy’s homepage and landing pages without code: start from a template like “SAT/ACT Test Prep”, add blocks, adjust colors and animations, preview on mobile, set the page SEO and publish.
- Connect your own domain (CNAME or A record) with automatic HTTPS Serve your academy at learn.yourschool.com or yourschool.com: add the domain in My academy → General, create a CNAME (or an A record) at GoDaddy, Namecheap or Cloudflare, and we verify it and enable HTTPS for you.
- SEO and Google Search Console: sitemap, robots.txt and site verification Your academy website gets its own sitemap.xml and robots.txt automatically. Verify it in Google Search Console by pasting the meta tag in your settings, submit the sitemap and optimize every page’s title and description.
- Design your sign-in and sign-up pages: 14 layouts with your image and text Give your academy’s sign-in and registration pages your own look: pick one of 14 layouts, add a photo, your logo and a welcome message in English and Spanish, preview it on desktop and mobile, and publish.
- FAQs for your students and visitors: help center, order and FAQ rich results Answer the questions you get every week once: organize FAQs by category for your students' Help Center, control their order and visibility, see which ones are read most, and add an FAQ block to your website that Google can read.
- WordPress plugin: sell your courses and add single sign-on Show and sell your Acatudy courses on your WordPress site. Create a key, install the plugin, place blocks and shortcodes, and let students go straight into the classroom with single sign-on (new in 2.1).
